ABOUT THE BOOK
For me, the COVID-19 pandemic underlined our collective reliance on the presentation and navigability of online information. This led me to create a prototype website that implements a novel multi-device UI and UX, in order to explore the possibility of pioneering more open-ended and intuitive data navigation, with a view to provoking discussion on whether current web design was suitable for the entire range of potential users.
Research and ideation for this project was supported by extensive documentation that formed part of the creative output, summarising both the historical context of interaction design (and design around computers as tools for communication more broadly) as well as the implementation of Gestalt psychological principles and templates as part of the current paradigm.
This was a collaboration I created with David Breuer, who was the back-end developer. This project was ultimately shortlisted for the 2021 Artsthread Global Design Graduate Show Awards.
ABOUT THE WEBSITE
The website itself implements an interchangable identity and non-hierarchical navigation system. This prototypes a navigation system for a diverse range of users to interact with the site, customize it to their preferences or even make sense of information in novel ways.
Building the website posed a number of challenges, such as designing interactive icons, or creating 5 separate glyph systems that were uniquely different, but still interchangable.
