Identity design
ABOUT
This was a recent pro-bono branding project I created for the Service Design program at the Royal College of Art in London. The purpose was to develop the identity for their upcoming show based on three key themes: “enrich”, “engage”, “empower”
I started by creating a set of brand guidelines. With the aim of reflecting the course’s focus on human-centred design methods and experiences, these adhere to the existing guidelines, while expanding on them in key ways. The color palette builds on the original set of secondary and tertiary colors, adding a set of neutral and cream colors to soften the overall look. Degular was chosen as a workhorse business typeface, while also offering a distinctive and approachable personality. The logo is modular and was generated around a 5x5 grid, each iteration composed of the letter combinations “Em“ and “En“, forming the themes of the show. The application of the identity needed to be flexbile to secure the buy-in from projects with often-conflicting visual approaches.
